Explain that the number 12 is always at the top of the clock and the numbers move from left to right in a circle. Emphasize this pattern to build familiarity with the clock layout.

Use the time block for the hour hand. Show how the hour changes as the hand moves around the clock. For example, when the hour hand points to 3, ask, "What time is it?" and help the child identify it as 3:00.
